Creating timelines is such an effective technique for telling your ancestor’s stories, helping to resolve conflicting information, seeing patterns, connecting to events within the ancestor’s FAN Club (friends/family, associates, and neighbors), and so much more.
I often find that when I write out a timeline that I “see” things that I hadn’t seen before. There are many ways that you can create timelines for your ancestors, such as:
- Word processing document
- Spreadsheet
- Index cards
- Adding events to online tree/genealogy software
Cyndi’s List has a category on Timelines that you can use for inspiration and education: https://www.cyndislist.com/timelines/.
