March 2020 Presentations

Four presentations are scheduled for March, beginning on Tuesday, March 10. If you can’t attend the live presentation, the recordings are available to members for six months following. Here’s the March lineup:

Tuesday, March 10 8 pm Eastern

Colleen Robledo Greene presents
“Streamlining Your Toolbox:
Cloud Applications, Strategies, & Workflows”
This presentation evaluates cloud-based tools useful for storing, organizing, preserving, sharing, and collaborating on genealogy research, professional work, and society operations. We will discuss strategies for selecting the right tools to fit your needs, and demonstrate suggested workflows to improve productivity.


Saturday, March 21 1 pm Eastern

Vincenzo Alfano presents
“Vittorio Emanuele & Giuseppe Garibaldi:
Names in Post-1861 Italy”

Following the 1861 unification of Italy, many people were named Vittorio Emanuele (after the first king of unified Italy) and Giuseppe Garibaldi (after the general of the liberation army). This presentation demonstrates the many different implications our family history has had on the big history, and the importance of putting our ancestors into historical context as a means of better understanding our genealogy.


Friday, March 27 8 pm Eastern

Laura Hedgecock and Elizabeth O’Neal presents
“Social Media Strategies for Family Historians”

Learn simple yet effective strategies for Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, and Reddit that individuals and societies can leverage to share their family history, bust down brick walls, find cousin collaborators, and make new genealogical discoveries.


Sunday, March 29 11 am Eastern

Kate Eakman presents
“The Suicide of William A. James:
More than Meets the Eye “

The death certificate says suicide, but the family story says murder. What is a genealogist to do? How do we implement the Genealogical Proof Standard (GPS) in our family history? Why does it matter? And how does it help with the case of William A. James?
