“Joining a Traditional Genealogical Society” with Daniel Earl
March 16 @ 11:00 am - 12:30 pm EDT
Family historians may feel like they are the only one in their family who is interested in genealogical research. They may also make most of their genealogy connections online. Beyond friendship and fun, there are many reasons why these researchers should join one or more genealogical societies. This lecture will look at the history of genealogical societies, discuss the “Top 10” reasons to join a society, and discuss the three societies every family historian needs to join.
Daniel Earl got his start in family history at the age of 10 when his father took him to the grave of his great-grandfather, sparking a lifetime of interest in family history. Dan has spent the last 25 years researching his own family history and helping others make history a part of their story. He is the President of the Hungarian Genealogical Society of Michigan, the Vice-President of Mid-Michigan Genealogical Society, the Vice-President of the Michigan Genealogical Council, and is a member of multiple other local, regional, national, and ethnic genealogical societies.
